Committee Recommendations

The Government Management Committee recommends that:

1.         City of Toronto staff from Corporate Information, Technology Web and the Clerk's Office make available a secure wireless network connection in the City of Toronto Council Chamber and Community Council Chambers to all Members of City Council.

Origin

(October 26, 2011) Letter from Councillor Paul Ainslie, Ward 43 - Scarborough East

Summary

Letter from Councillor Ainslie informing that as Toronto City Councillors more frequently reach constituents electronically it is imperative that tools be put in place for continued access.  Currently, neither the City of Toronto Council Chamber nor the Community Council Chambers have the ability in place for electronic devices to access the internet without an ethernet cable as a secure wireless network connection is not available.

Having available a secure wireless network connection will enhance each Councillor's ability to reach their constituents as well as research items during discussions at City Council when further information is required.
