Summary
There is an opportunity to create a safer pedestrian environment and an urban park using a portion of the public road at Orchard View Boulevard and Yonge Street. The temporary closure of the road will be a pilot project from June to Thanksgiving weekend. The road closure will include the installation of planters and benches to prevent vehicle access into Orchard View from Yonge Street.
The local residents association has approved the pilot project unanimously. The local farmers market that is currently located at Eglinton Park has also expressed an interest in relocating to the urban park.
During the pilot project, parking and traffic impacts will be assessed.
