The Community Development and Recreation Committee referred this item to the General Manager, Shelter, Support and Housing Administration, with the request to:
1. Organize a panel on the state of homelessness and our City's response for the June 26, 2012 meeting of the Community Development and Recreation Committee.

Summary
I would like to move a motion to request the General Manager of Shelter, Support and Housing Administration to organize a panel on the state of homelessness and our City's response. We have undertaken similar such panels on childcare and homes for the aged, and they have proven helpful to the Community Development and Recreation Committee.
The scheduling of such a panel presenting to the Community Development and Recreation Committee is timely given that a taskforce on homelessness is being organized. This Community Development and Recreation panel can serve to be helpful to the taskforce.
