Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

 

1.         Deferred consideration of the report (September 5, 2012) from the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning Division, and the Executive Director, Toronto Building and Chief Building Official respecting the Zoning Status of Casinos in the Toronto and East York District, until its meeting to be held on October 10, 2012, and scheduled the item for consideration at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Toronto City Hall to allow public deputations.

 

2.         Requested the following with respect to the Community Council's consideration at its next meeting of the report on the Zoning Status of Casinos in the Toronto and East York District:

 

a.         the Medical Officer of Health to report to the October 10, 2012 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council on health issues and impacts related to casinos and problem gambling;

 

b.         the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning to report to the October 10, 2012 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council on the parking standards associated with other Ontario Casinos, and on whether the precinct surrounding John and Front Streets are currently deficient with respect to parking capacity; and

 

c.         the Chair of the Toronto and East York Community Council to invite the Chief of Police and the Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board to attend the October 10, 2012 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council in order to provide information on public safety issues related to the location of a casino.

 

3.         Directed that the Toronto and East York Community Council be on record as being opposed to the location of a casino within the boundaries of the Toronto and East York District.

At its meeting of February 14, 2012, Toronto and East York Community Council requested the Chief Planner, in consultation with the City Solicitor and Chief Building Official to report to the September 11, 2012 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council regarding the zoning status of casinos in Toronto and East York District. This report provides information regarding the above request.

1 - Motion to Amend Item moved by Councillor Adam Vaughan (Carried)

That the Toronto and East York Community Council:

 

1.         Defer consideration of the report (September 5, 2012) from the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning Division, and the Executive Director, Toronto Building and Chief Building Official respecting the Zoning Status of Casinos in the Toronto and East York District, until its meeting to be held on October 10, 2012.

 

2.         Request the following with respect to the Community Council's consideration at its next meeting of the report on the Zoning Status of Casinos in the Toronto and East York District:

That Part 1. of the motion by Councillor Vaughan be amended to provide that the Toronto and East York Community Council schedule the item for consideration at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Toronto City Hall to allow public deputations.
