City Council Decision

City Council on July 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2013, adopted the following:

 

1.         City Council request the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, in consultation with the City Solicitor, to report to the October 29, 2013 Licensing and Standards Committee meeting on a policy directing how City staff can deal with multiple complaints from one person, complaints that appear to be vexatious, and complaints from feuding neighbours, etc., such report to also include the feasibility of authorizing the Executive Director to waive appeal fees when in the opinion of the Executive Director, complaints are vexatious in nature.

That

 

1.         City Council amend Recommendation 1 to MM37.9 by adding the words "in consultation with the City Solicitor" after the word "Standards" and by adding the words "such report to also include the feasibility of authorizing the Executive Director to waive appeal fees when in the opinion of the Executive Director, complaints are vexatious in nature" after the words "neighbours, etc." so that it now reads as follows:

 

1.          City Council request the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, in consultation with the City Solicitor, to report to the October 29, 2013 Licensing and Standards Committee meeting on a policy directing how City staff can deal with multiple complaints from one person, complaints that appear to be vexatious, and complaints from feuding neighbours, etc., such report to also include the feasibility of authorizing the Executive Director to waive appeal fees when in the opinion of the Executive Director, complaints are vexatious in nature.

 

2.         City Council delete Recommendation 2.

2.          City Council waive any appeal fees charged to property owners that might result from the 59 or more complaints filed by one individual in Ward 38 Scarborough Centre.
