The Public Works and Infrastructure Committee referred the item to the General Manager, Transportation Services, for a report to the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, and that the report include snow removal in bike lanes and along surface transit routes.

Summary
On Friday February 8th, 2013, the City experienced its most significant snowfall of the past four years, with more than 30 cm falling in some parts of the city.
On February 13, 2013, I communicated with the Mayor and all Members of Council in writing to request feedback about the City's response to the storm, with the goal of identifying where our crews had done well and where improvements may be required. I also requested that the General Manager of Transportation, Stephen Buckley, examine our response to the storm along with our existing by-laws, policies and protocols to determine if they are an adequate response to significant snowfalls such as was experienced on February 8th. I have since provided each submission received from Members of Council to Stephen Buckley for consideration as he performs his review.
While it is my understanding that the General Manager of Transportation intends to report to Committee with his findings and recommendations, I would like to formally request through Committee that he do so no later than the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee meeting of June 19, 2013, to ensure sufficient time to implement any recommendations before the start of the next winter season.
