City Council Decision
City Council on October 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2013, adopted the following:
1. City Council urge the Canadian and Egyptian Governments to immediately release and free Mr. John Greyson and Dr. Tarek Loubani.
2. City Council request the Mayor to communicate this plea immediately to both Governments.
City Council Decision Advice and Other Information
Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, invited Councillor Adam Vaughan to come forward to address Council on the release of Mr. John Greyson and Dr. Tarek Loubani from prison in Egypt. Councillor Vaughan thanked the Mayor, personally and on behalf of Members, for formally writing a letter in support of Mr. Greyson and Dr. Loubani's release. Councillor Vaughan invited Mr. Justin Podur, friend of the Greyson family to come forward to address Council. Mr. Podur read to Members a statement from Mr. Greyson and Dr. Loubani. Councillor Vaughan invited Mayor Rob Ford to come up to present a letter to Mr. Podur.

The Toronto and East York Community Council recommends that:
1. City Council urge the Canadian and Egyptian Governments to immediately release and free Mr. John Greyson and Dr. Tarek Loubani.
2. City Council request the Mayor to communicate this plea immediately to both Governments.

Summary
At 10:00 a.m. this morning a press conference is being held at the Toronto International Film Festival headquarters in Ward 20. Artists, academics and members of this City's film community are making an urgent plea to the Egyptian Government to release celebrated Toronto Filmmaker John Greyson and Ontario Physician, Dr. Tarek Loubani, from detention in order to join an international chorus of government and non-governmental organizations working for the release of these two Canadians.
