City Council Decision

City Council on April 1, 2 and 3, 2014, adopted the following:

 

1.         City Council adopt the confidential instructions to staff contained in Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (February 7, 2014) from the Treasurer and the City Solicitor, as amended by the Government Management Committee in its confidential transmittal (February 24, 2014) to City Council.

 

2.         City Council direct that Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (February 7, 2014) from the Treasurer and the City Solicitor, as amended by the Government Management Committee, remain confidential as it contains advice and information that is subject to solicitor-client privilege and pertains to litigation or potential litigation.

 

3.         City Council authorize the public release of all or a portion of the confidential instructions once adopted by City Council at the discretion of the City Solicitor.

 

Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (March 11, 2014) from the City Solicitor, as amended by the Government Management Committee remains confidential in its entirety at this time in accordance with the provisions of the City of Toronto Act, 2006, as it contains advice or communications that are subject to solicitor client privilege and it pertains to litigation or potential litigation, affecting the City or one of its agencies, boards, and commissions.  The confidential instructions in Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (March 11, 2014) from the City Solicitor, as amended by the Government Management Committee, will be made public at the discretion of the City Solicitor.

Committee Recommendations

The Government Management Committee recommends that:

 

1.         City Council adopt the confidential instructions to staff contained in Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (February 7, 2014) from the Treasurer and the City Solicitor, as amended by the Government Management Committee in its confidential transmittal (February 24, 2014) to City Council.

The purpose of this report is to advise Council of property tax arrears which are outstanding at 3500 Eglinton Avenue West, and to seek Council's approval for a plan to attempt to collect the unpaid amount.
