Summary

In late 2013, Mr. Todd Boyce approached me with a proposal to commemorate Jeffrey Baldwin in Greenwood Park. Jeffrey Baldwin's heartbreaking story touched so many people in Toronto and across the country. With this proposed statue, Mr. Boyce hopes to celebrate Jeffrey's joyful spirit.

The campaign to fundraise for the memorial is growing in momentum and demonstrates the community's hope to see this project realized. It is important that the City of Toronto be a partner in navigating the process and building bridges between the community stakeholders who will all share in this undertaking.

Jeffrey lived in our community and, sadly, he died in our community before having the chance to play and grow with his peers. Though we cannot undo this tragedy, we can come together to ensure that we remember Jeffrey and work tirelessly to secure a safe and joyful life for every child.
