Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council requested the Director, Transportation Services, Toronto and East York District to report to the Toronto and East York Community Council, for consideration at a special evening meeting in June 2015, on reducing the speed limits on all local roads from 40 km/h to 30 km/h in the Toronto and East York District.

Summary
I am writing as Chair of the Toronto and East York Community Council (TEYCC) at the request of several members to add to the April 14, 2015 TEYCC meeting agenda an item for discussion concerning a community council wide reduction in speed limit on residential streets from 40km/h to 30km/h.
At its meeting on August 12, 2014, TEYCC adopted item TE 34.169 from Councillor Josh Matlow, amended by Councillor Gord Perks, which recommended:
The Toronto and East York Community Council requested:
1. Transportation Services staff to report back to the first Toronto and East York Community Council meeting of the next term of Council on lowering the speed limit to 30 km/h on all local streets and, where possible, collector roads, within areas designated by the City's Official Plan as "Neighbourhood" in the Toronto and East York Community Council area.
