1.  Requested the Senior Manager of Heritage Preservation Services to research and evaluate The Christie's Water Tower at 2150 Lake Shore Boulevard West for potential inclusion on the City's Heritage Register and report to the Toronto Preservation Board and Etobicoke York Community Council.

Summary

South Etobicoke is comprised of communities with rich and distinct histories, and includes properties with historical value and community significance.

 

The former Mr. Christie's Bakery site at 2150 Lake Shore Boulevard West first opened in 1948. The Christie's Water Tower forms part of the 27-acre property at 2150 Lake Shore Boulevard West, which is now owned by First Capital Realty.

 

The Christie's Water Tower has been a major landmark in South Etobicoke for over 60 years, and should be preserved and recognized for its place in our city's history.
