City Council Decision

City Council on February 3 and 4, 2016, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council request the City Manager to write to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada requesting that the City of Toronto be included as a participant in the proposed federal-provincial-territorial task force on the legalization and regulation of marijuana to ensure that the City's interests are addressed, including ensuring that the permitted locations for the selling of marijuana is appropriate and recognizing the need for appropriate distance requirements to other uses such as schools, daycares, residences, etc.

 

2. City Council request the Deputy City Manager, Cluster B to report to the Budget Committee as part of the 2017 budget cycle on potential budget implications to the City, including the Toronto Police Service, related to the Federal Government's initiative on the legalization and regulation of marijuana.
