1. Directed the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture and the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to report back to the March 7, 2017 meeting of the Executive Committee on what financial and recreational assets and site selection are required to make this event a success.

Summary
Canada has been chosen as the host country for the 2017 Pan American Women's Handball Championship by the Pan-American Team Handball Federation. The Pan American Women's Handball Championship takes place every two years and is the official competition for senior national handball teams of the Americas. The tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Women's Handball Championship.
The Canadian Team Handball Federation has indicated its desire to have the championship take place in Toronto but there is also interest from Alberta and Quebec. Toronto is ready to host this competition after successfully hosting the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games in 2015, which included the highly acclaimed Pan Am Handball Championships. Our city's wide array of world class sporting facilities, transportation network and internationally experienced staff and volunteers are all complimented with a full range of outstanding hospitality options. Toronto is ready deliver yet another phenomenal championship event.
