City Council Decision

City Council on July 4, 5, 6  and 7, 2017, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council increase the 2017 Capital Budget for Transportation Services by $0.95 million gross and $0 debt, to fund costs associated with Legal Services' participation in the Ontario Municipal Board hearing regarding the expropriation of properties on Sheppard Avenue East and Bonnington Place as well as additional costs to demolish the eleven (11) single family homes on the acquired properties, the costs will be fully funded by Section 37 contributions from Planning Act Reserve Funds (XR3026-3700178).

Committee Recommendations

The Executive Committee recommends that:

 

1. City Council increase the 2017 Capital Budget for Transportation Services by $0.95 million gross and $0 debt, to fund costs associated with Legal Services' participation in the Ontario Municipal Board hearing regarding the expropriation of properties on Sheppard Avenue East and Bonnington Place as well as additional costs to demolish the eleven (11) single family homes on the acquired properties. The costs will be fully funded by Section 37 contributions from Planning Act Reserve Funds (XR3026-3700178).

This report requests authority to increase the 2017 Capital Budget for Transportation Services by $0.95 million gross and $0 debt, to fund costs associated with City Legal Services' participation in the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearing regarding the expropriation of properties on Sheppard Avenue East and Bonnington Place, as well as additional costs to demolish up to eleven (11) single family homes on the acquired properties.

 

The ongoing Ontario Municipal Board hearing, and any potential settlements arising as a result, will be the subject of a future report from Legal Services.

 

These costs will be fully funded by Section 37 contributions from Planning Act Reserve Funds (XR3026-3700178).
