Summary
In light of a few reports and plans that have been approved by Council in recent years, cycling is becoming a more popular mode of transportation for many Torontonians. The 10 Year Cycling Plan seeks to expand cycling infrastructure across the city, while TransformTO and Active Cities: Designing for Health encourage cycling as an active mode of transportation. People are increasingly using their bikes as transportation and recreation.
With more and more people using their bikes in Toronto, it is time to look at additional facilities that will support cyclists. Bike tune-up stations are a simple but effective addition to the existing and incoming infrastructure. Minneapolis, Windsor and Austin have already installed these facilities in the cities.
