Committee Decision
The Parks and Environment Committee:
1. Requested the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation, in consultation with the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture and the Medical Officer of Health, to review the opportunity for the development of an initiative similar to the City of Philadelphia's "Parks on Tap" initiative, and report to the January 2018 Parks and Environment Committee meeting.
Origin
Summary
The City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Fairmount Park Conservancy; and FCM Hospitality run an initiative called "Parks on Tap". This is a mobile truck that serves craft beer and food - it travels around to parks around Philadelphia as a sort of mobile beer garden. This program brings people together of all ages and activates the city's park, including smaller neighbourhood parks and public spaces. A portion of the proceeds from each location is reinvested into Philadelphia's park system.
