Committee Decision

The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee recommends to the Executive Committee that:

 

1.  The Executive Director, Human Resources develop a Persons with Disabilities Employment Strategy with the purpose of ensuring that persons with disabilities are employed at the City of Toronto at a level reflective of their representation in the population of the city, consistent with Council approved directions in Item EX35.5 adopted by the Executive Committee on June 19, 2018, Item EX30.28 adopted by the Executive Committee on January 24, 2018, and the Aboriginal Employment Strategy.

 

2.  The General Manager, Shelter, Support and Housing Administration:

 

a.  Consult with the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee, the disability community and appropriate stakeholders in the decision making process in the first quarter 2019, in the development of new Design Guidelines that will apply to all new City funded shelter infrastructure and redevelopment; and

 

b.  Undertake consultation on proposed changes to application forms for rent-geared-to-income (RGI) units, modified units, and additional bedroom requests with the Responsible Personal Accessibility in Toronto Housing (R-PATH) Committee, a resident-led group that works with Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities that apply.

Terri-Lynn Langdon, the Housing Working Group and the Disability and Policing Working Group.

Summary

The Leads of the following Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee Working Groups will provide updates to the Committee:

 

Communications Working Group; 

 

Employment Working Group;

 

Housing Working Group; 

 

Transportation Working Group; and

 

Disability and Policing Working Group.

That:
