Committee Recommendations

The Executive Committee recommends that:

 

1.  City Council make representations to the new Provincial Government to increase coordination in transit planning in the Greater Toronto Area and enact any legislative amendments that may be required in order to provide for the appointment of a Toronto Transit Commission Board member on the Metrolinx Board of Directors.

 

2.  City Council amend Municipal Code Chapter 279, Toronto Transit Commission, relating to the composition of the Toronto Transit Commission Board to permit the appointment of a representative from the Metrolinx Board of Directors to the Toronto Transit Commission Board.

Summary

At its meeting on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 the Toronto Transit Commission  Board considered the attached Notice of Motion titled "Coordination between the Toronto Transit Commission and Metrolinx Boards".

 

The Board adopted the recommendations in the Notice of Motion, as follows:

 

1.  The Toronto Transit Commission Board request Toronto City Council to make representations to the new Provincial Government to increase coordination in transit planning in the Greater Toronto Area and enact any legislative amendments that may be required in order to provide for the appointment of a Toronto Transit Commission Board member on the Metrolinx Board of Directors.

 

2.  The Toronto Transit Commission Board request Toronto City Council to amend Chapter 279 of the Municipal Code relating to the composition of the Toronto Transit Commission Board to permit the appointment of a representative from the Metrolinx Board of Directors to the Toronto Transit Commission Board.

 

3.  That a copy of this motion be forwarded to Metrolinx for information.

 

The recommendations of the Toronto Transit Commission as set out above are submitted for City Council approval through the Executive Committee.
