Community Council Decision
Scarborough Community Council:
1. Requested the Executive Director, Facilities Management to report back to Scarborough Community Council at its meeting on June 6, 2018, on the structural and preservation inadequacies of the Scarborough Civic Centre, including and not exclusive of the list provided within the letter from Councillor Ainslie dated March 19, 2018.
Summary
Please accept this letter as a request for your support in requesting Facilities Management staff to present a report on how the structural and preservation inadequacies of the Scarborough Civic Centre will be addressed in the near future. The report should include the input from relevant divisions including Economic Development and Culture, City Clerk's Office and other divisions as appropriate.
From my experience, and comments I heard from our City Council colleagues, and the members of the general public during the recent meeting of the Executive Committee held on March 19, 2018 this report should include plans for:
General maintenance of the building.
Maintenance of historical artefacts in the Rotunda including, the buggy display, the Thomson Family Bible, the display cases, sculptures and the Hand of God Book.
The integrity of the pond.
Upkeep of the Council Chamber including the Members' Lounge.
Plans for the electronic voting board for recorded votes.
Associated plans for technological upgrades in the Chamber including the sound system.
Signage in all areas of the Scarborough Civic Centre.
An overview of maintenance on an annual basis for Albert Campbell Square.
This list above should not be an exclusive list in the report. I look forward to your input and questions.
Thank you, in advance, for your consideration of this request.
