Origin
Summary
Starting several years ago members of the school community and local residents worked to narrow the intersection of Pape and Riverdale to make it safer to walk to school. This has meant that some of the old parking regulations, implemented when it was a two-lane road at Pape and Riverdale, no longer make sense.
Riverdale Ave, between Pape Avenue and Carlaw Avenue is presently not licensed for permit parking. Currently, parking is allowed, outside the hours of a 4pm-6pm restriction, where cars are still subject to the three-hour maximum parking duration. Adding this block of Riverdale Avenue to the permit parking program would add much needed parking spaces into the pool of parking spaces for the use of 8B permit holders.
Given that most of the residents on Riverdale Ave, between Pape Avenue and Carlaw Avenue have valid 8B permits, including this stretch of roadway would allow for more flexibility and parking availability. This motion seeks an exemption to allow Toronto & East York Community Council to consider a request to implement permit parking on Riverdale Ave, between Pape Avenue and Carlaw Avenue.
