2. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter the roadway to install six speed humps on Niagara Street, between King Street West and Bathurst Street, generally as shown on attached Drawing No. 421G-3569, dated October 2019, to the letter (December 2, 2019) from Councillor Joe Cressy.
Origin
Summary
My office has received reports of speeding and dangerous driving on Niagara Street between King Street West and Bathurst Street. This portion of Niagara Street is near an elementary school, a daycare, and a highly used local park.
At the October 2019 Community Council meeting, the speed limit was reduced from 40 km/h to 30 km/h on Niagara Street, between King Street West and Bathurst Street.
After receiving the reports of speeding and dangerous driving, I received a petition for the installation of speed humps totalling 91 signatures from local residents.
I am requesting that this council waive the petition and polling requirements, and authorize the installation of traffic calming measures.
