City Council Decision

Various presentations, introductions and announcements were made to City Council on February 19, 2020.

 

Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, acknowledged the families and Toronto Fire Service colleagues, of Douglas Burlie and Daniel D'Aloisio, who were present in the Chamber.

 

Councillor Filion, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed the Willowdale Youth Council who were present in the Chamber.

 

Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, called upon Mayor Tory and Councillor Pasternak to come forward for a special presentation.  Councillor Pasternak advised Members of Council that after 33 years of service to the City of Toronto, Richard Ubbens, Director of Parks, was leaving the City for a senior level position at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.  Councillor Pasternak spoke of the many initiatives that Richard Ubbens was instrumental in, such as the multi-year Park Plan and the Ravine Strategy.  Councillor Pasternak thanked Mr. Ubbens for his contributions to the City.  Mayor Tory addressed City Council and acknowledged Richard Ubbens' numerous accomplishments and his efforts to ensure that Toronto's natural assets are preserved and enhanced now and in the years to come.  Mayor Tory presented Mr. Ubbens with a scroll.  Richard Ubbens addressed Council and said that it had been an extreme privilege to serve the public of Toronto, to serve Members of Council and to be part of such a magnificent team of public servants.  Mr. Ubbens thanked Members of Council.

 

Speaker Nunziata, during the afternoon session of the meeting, advised Members of Council about the Children's Breakfast Club Acts of Kindness Challenge and that the Club had asked Members of Council to sign an apron, which would be used as a prize for one of the winning schools in the Acts of Kindness Challenge. 

 

Mayor Tory, during the afternoon session of the meeting, advised Members of Council that he had spoken to Councillor Jaye Robinson who was in good spirits and appreciates all the support she had received from everyone at City Hall.
