City Council Decision

City Council on July 14, 15 and 16, 2021, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council authorize the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to enter into and execute, on behalf of the City of Toronto, the necessary agreements with PortsToronto and any other relevant authority to govern the installation, operation, maintenance and removal of waterside-mounted trash collecting devices along the waterfront at sites where the City has jurisdiction, and to collaborate on a communications program, with the City's nominal financial contribution to be funded from the existing 2021 Council Approved Operating Budget for Parks, Forestry and Recreation to cover the seasonal hydro costs for powering the trash-collecting devices as necessary, for a term of not longer than three years, with the option, exercisable by the General Manager, to renew the agreement for up to two additional terms of up to three years each, on terms and conditions (including any renewal rights) satisfactory to the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation, and in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.

Speaker Nunziata advised Council that the provisions of Chapter 27, Council Procedures, require that Motion MM35.10 be referred to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee. A two-thirds vote of the Council Members present is required to waive referral.
