TY2.1 - Discussion of Consultants' Reports Related to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

Subcommittee Decision

The Subcommittee to Review Billy Bishop Airport Consultant Reports requested:

1. The City Solicitor to read and review the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper Legal Brief (December 3, 2013) and submit a report directly to City Council on December 16, 2013, on the issues raised in this Brief.

2. The Acting Director, Waterfront Secretariat, to:

i. Create diagrams showing the Marine Exclusion Zone expansions on the size of the runway at Billy Bishop Airport spoken to in the Consultant's report and submit them directly to City Council on December 16, 2013.

ii. Contact the Toronto Port Authority and request them to provide the Airport Wildlife Management Plan directly to City Council on December 16, 2013.

Summary

Continuation of discussion of consultants' reports related to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, particularly with respect to issues raised by the Subcommittee at its meeting on November 7, 2013:

- Safety and security issues

- Parks

- Health

- Waterfront Toronto

- Source water protection and monitoring requirements

- Impact on land values along the Waterfront

- The extent of functioning of the Tank Farm

- Regulations affecting residential proximity to airports

- Further traffic options needed to address the additional car trips

- Clarification on the status of the Island Bird Sanctuary.
