City Council on July 11, 12 and 13, 2012, adopted the following:
1. City Council direct the City Manager, Deputy City Manager, Cluster B and the Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director of City Planning, to report to the September meeting of the Planning and Growth Management Committee on the work underway arising from the decisions of City Council on February 8, 2012 and March 21, 2012 (CC17.l and CC20.1), respecting transit related matters including:
a. the development of a Toronto Public Transit Expansion Plan;
b. consultation with the Toronto Transit Commission and Metrolinx;
c. review of all transit routes contained within the current Official Plan, Metrolinx Big Move, the previous Let's Move Plan and other previously approved City Council, Toronto Transit Commission and Provincial plans; and
d. public consultation planned for 2012 within each Community Council district, such discussions to include possible routes, priorities and financial models among other matters.
2. City Council direct the City Manager, Deputy City Manager of Cluster B and the Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director of City Planning, to report to the Planning and Growth Management Committee in the second quarter of 2013 with a proposed City-wide transit plan to update the Official Plan and a prioritization strategy for all lines.

Committee Recommendations
The Planning and Growth Management Committee recommends that:
1. City Council request that the Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director of City Planning work collaboratively with the Toronto Transit Commission to develop a list of transit priorities, to be approved by City Council, and that these priorities be included in the Official Plan review.
Origin
Summary
Over the past several months there have been many discussions about transit in Toronto and in the Greater Toronto Area. The Executive Committee passed a motion entitled: Moving Forward: Improving Public Transit and Relieving Traffic Congestion through a Regional Funding Strategy. The motion directs the City Manager to engage and participate with Metrolinx in establishing a funding strategy for the Metrolinx regional transit plan.
It is important that the City also considers its transit needs and develops a transit plan that supports its Official Plan. As the Official Plan is currently under review, I would request that the City, in conjunction with the Toronto Transit Commission, develop a list of transit priorities that would complete the current transit system.
