Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council directed that:

 

1. Staff schedule a community consultation meeting for the lands at 767-773 Yonge Street, which includes the provision of light refreshments and, when required, childcare and accessibility resources including sign language interpretation at the sole cost of the applicant, together with the Ward Councillor. 

 

2. Notice for the community consultation meeting be given to landowners and residents within 120 metres of the site, and to additional residents, institutions and owners to be determined in consultation with the Ward Councillor, with any additional mailing costs to be borne by the applicant.

 

3.  Notice for the public meeting under the Planning Act be given according to the regulations of the Planning Act.

Summary

This application proposes to amend the Zoning By-law to permit a 48-storey (166 metres including a 12-metre mechanical penthouse) mixed-use building with retail uses on the ground floor and residential uses above at 767-773 Yonge Street.  The proposal has a Floor Space Index of 19.9 times the area of the lot and a total of 257 residential units, 291 bicycle parking spaces and 26 vehicle parking spaces.

 

The proposal includes the retention and alteration of the 3-storey heritage building at 771-773 Yonge Street.

 

This report provides preliminary information on the above-noted application and seeks Community Council's directions on further processing of the application and on the community consultation process.

 

The next step is to hold a community meeting in the third quarter of 2016.

That the Toronto and East York Community Council adopt the recommendations in the report (August 17, 2016) from the Director, Community Planning, Toronto and East York District, subject to amending Recommendations 1 and 2 to read as follows:

 

"1.
