The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee recommends that:

 

1.    The Executive Committee approve the establishment of a Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee Working Group to discuss disability and disability issues related to policing in the City of Toronto.

 

2.  City Council request the Toronto Police Services Board to provide a semi-annual update to the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee on the work of the Toronto Police Service - Disabilities Community Consultative Committee.

 

3.  City Council request the Toronto Police Services Board to consider having a member of the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee participate on the Toronto Police Service - Disabilities Community Consultative Committee.

Summary

Member, Terri-Lynn Langdon requests that a short-term sub-committee be formed arising out of the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee to establish a report and recommendations regarding disability and disability issues related to policing in the City of Toronto. This motion arises from concerns in the disability communit(ies) about policing and police services. The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee will start this discussion with members agreeing to be a part of this short-term committee at the next meeting.
