Committee Decision
The Licensing and Standards Committee:
1. Requested the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, to report to the Licensing and Standards Committee in the second quarter of 2018 on the issue of installation of mandatory cameras in Private Transportation Company (PTC) Vehicles, and update on the status on other outstanding directives.
Origin
Summary
It has been over a year since the by-law for Private Transportation Company (PTC) was enacted and it is time to have it reviewed. I would formally request that we request a report back in the first quarter of 2018 from the Executive Director of Licensing and Standards on the issue of installation of mandatory cameras in PTC Vehicles.
When we finalized the PTC vehicle regulations it was stated that in one year we would have a report back of findings. Since then there have been a few incidents of sexual harassment incidents in PTC vehicles. It is time we look at this closer and thus get a report back from the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, in the first quarter of 2018 on making it mandatory for the installation of cameras in PTC vehicles.
