City Council Decision

City Council on March 28 and 29, 2017, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council request the Government of Canada to act quickly to implement the housing funding commitments made in the 2017 Federal Budget.

 

2. City Council request the Minister, Families, Children and Social Development to establish  a housing funding allocation model for investing funding from the 2017 Federal Budget that is based on housing need.  

 

3. City Council request the Minister, Families Children and Social Development to act on the results of the 2016 public consultations by releasing the proposed National Housing Strategy.

Motion to Waive Referral (Carried)

Speaker Nunziata advised Council that the provisions of Chapter 27, Council Procedures, require that Motion MM27.22 be referred to the Executive Committee. A two-thirds vote of the Council Members present is required to waive referral.


1 - Motion to Adopt Item as Amended moved by Councillor Paul Ainslie (Carried)

That City Council delete the recommendations and adopt instead the following new recommendations:

 

1. City Council request the Government of Canada to act quickly to implement the housing funding commitments made in the 2017 Federal Budget.

 

2. City Council request the Minister, Families, Children and Social Development to establish  a housing funding allocation model for investing funding from the 2017 federal budget that is based on housing need.  

 

3. City Council request the Minister, Families Children and Social Development to act on the results of the 2016 public consultations by releasing the proposed National Housing Strategy.
