Speaker Nunziata took the Chair and called the Members to order.

The meeting opened with O Canada.

Members of Council observed a moment of silence and remembered Chris Stockwell.

Speaker Nunziata gratefully acknowledged that City Council was meeting on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation, the Haudenasaunee, the Huron-Wendat and home to many diverse Indigenous peoples.

Speaker Nunziata advised Members of the following:

This special meeting of Council is scheduled for the following purposes:

1. to consider the Executive Committee’s Report from its meeting on February 9, 2016;

2.  to introduce and enact General Bills; and

3. to introduce and enact a Confirming Bill for this special meeting.

Members of Council, this is a special meeting. Under Council’s Procedures, no new business items, such as Notices of Motions, may be introduced. This rule cannot be waived. I would draw to Members' attention that our next full regular meeting is scheduled for March 30th.  Members may submit Notices of Motions to the City Clerk for that meeting.
