Scarborough Community Council:

1. Requested the Director, Transportation Services, Scarborough District to report back to the April 4, 2018 Scarborough Community Council meeting, on the installation of a Signalized Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) on Galloway Road at Coronation Drive.

Summary

In an effort to address high vehicle traffic volumes on Galloway Road for residents to safely cross when attending Maple View High School, East View Public School and the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough, the installation of a Signalized Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) on Galloway Road at Coronation Drive is required.

An increasing number of seniors, students and young children with their caregivers cross Galloway Road at Coronation Drive, stops signs are not in place on Galloway Road. This provides for an unsafe environment as a high volume of vehicles utilize Galloway Road throughout the day and evening.

Signalized Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) would be beneficial at this crossing as it would be utilized as required providing residents a safe passage to attend the local schools and the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough accessing day care, youth programming and senior programming.

Galloway Road is classified as a collector road with a speed limit of 50 km/h., residents are finding it increasingly difficult to cross Galloway Road at Coronation Drive.
