Origin

(December 10, 2018) Report from the Acting Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services

Summary

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority to make a final decision, provided that it is not amended so that it varies with City Policy or by-laws.

Transportation Services is requesting approval to rescind the current parking prohibitions on the west sides of Fraser Avenue, Jefferson Avenue and Pardee Avenue to provide additional parking spaces around Lamport Stadium located at 1155 King Street West.

City of Toronto's Shelter Support and Housing Administration (SSHA) reviewed city properties to provide 24-hour respite service and choose a location at 1155 King Street, the parking lot of Lamport Stadium.  The new structure will occupy approximately 100 parking spaces at this location.  Due to the high demand for parking, local residents, businesses and BIA want to make available alternative parking spaces around this location.  Transportation Services, in discussion with the Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Shelter Support and Housing Administration is recommending additional pay-and-display parking spaces on the west sides of Fraser Avenue, Jefferson Avenue and Pardee Avenue.  This proposal provides approximately 60 additional pay-and-display parking spaces.  The proposed changes will not impact traffic operations as two-way traffic will be maintained.
