City Council Decision

City Council on November 25 and 26, 2020, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council receive the report (November 18, 2020) from the General Manager, Parks Forestry and Recreation for information.

 

2. City Council request the Medical Officer of Health to review Toronto’s Public Health guidelines regarding access to public washroom facilities, and to work with the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation and the Executive Director, Corporate Real Estate Management to support safely re-opening washrooms in all open community centres and parks.

 

3.  City Council request the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to take the necessary steps to ensure that in parks with outdoor skating facilities, washroom access in the parks is maintained between the time the rink buildings are closed and the opening of the seasonal washrooms.

 

4. City Council request the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to take the necessary steps to ensure that portable washrooms are installed at the Leslie Spit.

 

5.  City Council request the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to develop a strategy to winterize more parks washrooms as part of the State of Good Repair and Capital Plan, and that new parks facilities being developed be considered for winterized washrooms.

1.  City Council direct the City Manager to postpone the opening or the addition of washrooms at locations where there are ongoing issues of lack of social distancing or unlawful activities until such time as the issues have subsided.

That City Council adopt the following recommendation contained in the Decision Letter from the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee [CC26.9a]:

 

1.
