The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 provides the candidate and registered third party advertiser the ability to extend their campaign beyond the  December 31, 2018 deadline if they are in a deficit. The candidate or registered third party advertiser may continue to campaign until they erase the deficit or July 02, 2019, whichever comes first.

Candidates and registered third party advertisers who have extended their campaign must file a Supplementary Financial Statement & Auditor's Report, due no later than 2:00 p.m., September 27, 2019.
