Election Services - Financial Disclosures

2021 Councillor Ward 22 By-Election - In Default of MEA

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 states that all candidates and registered third party advertisers must file an initial financial statement no later than 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Candidates and registered third party advertisers who have extended their campaign to eliminate a deficit must also file a supplementary financial statement no later than 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 01, 2021.

Those listed below did not file a financial statement by the legislative deadline and are therefore in default of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. For candidates, this means that they cannot run or be appointed to office until after the next general election. For registered third party advertisers, this means that they cannot register until after the next general election.

*Candidates and registered third party advertisers that filed within the 30 day grace period and paid the $500 late filing fee remain in default however, per section 88.23(9) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the penalties associated with the default do not apply.
