2022 Municipal Election - Financial Disclosures
Users of this portion of the City of Toronto Election website should be aware of the following:
- Pursuant to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, (the Act), the official copies of the Statements are filed with the Clerk of the City of Toronto. These are available for review at the Election Services Office at Toronto City Hall (100 Queen Street West, 1st Floor North) or 89 Northline Road.
- The filed financial statements (the Statements) available on this website were prepared by candidates or registered third party advertisers either manually or by using the City's Electronic Financial Filing System (EFFS).
- This website allows members of the public to view scanned copies of filed Statements in PDF format as well as the financial information that has been entered into EFFS.
- City staff have not verified or amended the information contained in the Statements.
- For those who did not use EFFS to prepare their Statements, City staff has entered the data from submitted original Statements into EFFS. In these cases, City staff has, to the best of their ability, entered the information as submitted but has not verified or amended the information in any way. However, due to the nature of EFFS, some calculations have been performed automatically by the system. As a result, the information on EFFS may differ from the information contained in the submitted Statements.
- In situations where multiple Statements are filed:
- For those who extend their campaigns and file supplementary financial statements pursuant to the Act, only information from the supplementary Statement is searchable. However, both the initial and supplementary Statements will be retained on the site in PDF format for review.
- For those who file a corrected Statement by the legislative deadline, only the latest Statement is searchable. Previously filed Statements can be viewed in the Election Services office during regular business hours
- In the case of those who have not filed by the legislated dates, the most recently submitted Statement, if any, appears on the website. However, a notice of default appears under the heading "In Default of MEA" in the menu located on the left side of the web page.
- The Act provides the ability to submit a Statement after the legislative deadline. Where this applies, the Clerk is to only accept these documents for the purpose of posting them on the website. Filing of the Statement does not remove the "In Default" status.
- None of the information appearing on the website pertains to the City’s election contribution rebate program. For further information on the rebate program, please contact candidateinfo@toronto.ca or call 416-338-1111.
- The City provides the website on an "as is", "as available", basis.
